Overview
Enjoy the tour through the Matavén jungle and visit this place accompanied by the Piaroa culture; They will allow you to know and enjoy the Matavén jungle from its perspective and ancestry, art, culture, nature, well-being and biodiversity hand in hand with the local community.
Our accommodation is linked to the use of wood, palm and liana; a life project, in which ecology, health and culture are combined. It is currently available to hang hammocks and install tents.
Wajari is the name of the god of the Piaroa indigenous people; (The Great Gate of God Wajari), is a sacred place and patrimony of our people, this place was a food bank, where the caciques lived spiritually, after performing ceremonies to acquire different kinds of fruits with the being that lived in this place and thus be able to feed their peoples. The height of this place allows you to see the Matavén jungle in all directions.
During the visit in this place, you can take walks along the river, enjoying the cool breeze and the birds on the banks, possible sighting of bottlenose dolphins and anacondas. In the summer times you can enjoy a cool spa on one of the beaches of our river.
Hiking is one of our main activities during the visit at Wajari Lodge, in this activity the visitor will have a close interaction with the flora and fauna.
As additional activities we have; target shooting with blowgun, bow and arrow.
Artisanal fishing, we also have presentation and sales of handicrafts from our Piaroa culture.

What to expect
DAY 1: ARRIVAL Inírida- Wajari Lodge
Visitors are received in the city of Inírida, we travel along the river in a river boat, we pass through the mouth of the Guainía river where it joins the Atabapo river and the Orinoco river “ the fluvial star of the east ”, we go down the Orinoco river until we reach the mouth of the Matavén river, we enter the jungle through the Matavén river until we reach our destination “Wajari Lodge”, we will observe different species of birds listening to their songs when evening falls in the jungle. Dinner and overnight at “Wajari Lodge” Matavén Jungle.
NOTE: this river tour lasts approximately 6 hours.
DAY 2 Wajari Lodge- Matavén- Colombia
The day begins with the dawn of the birds of the jungle, breakfast at the accommodation at approximately 6:30 a.m. We will walk on the ecological trail where you can observe the flora and fauna in one of the ancestral paths of the Matavén jungle until you reach the place of observation of a phenomenon and special attraction of nature, the sacred place in the jungle (The door of the god wajari.) During the tour, we will learn a little about slavery stories, a story that has remained in the history of the world. They were marked in the Matavén jungle in which the Piaroa indigenous peoples were victims, in the rubber boom. Arrival at the cabins, lunch and rest, in the afternoon dinner and accommodation in the cabins.
NOTE: this tour lasts approximately 7 hours round trip.
DAY 3 Wajari Lodge- Matavén River
The day begins with the dawn of the birds of the jungle, breakfast at the accommodation at approximately 7:30 a.m. We will take a canoe trip up the Matavén river enjoying the breeze and the natural landscape offered by the Matavén jungle
In the afternoon: it depends on the season of the year: in summer we will enjoy a baleario in one of the beaches of our river. During this tour, visitors will be able to go on a photographic safari.
DAY 4: RETURN Wajari Lodge – Selva Matavén Pto Inírida
Breakfast at the accommodation In the morning, departure to the mouth of the Matavén river, or directly to the city of Pto Inírida. According to the plan.
NOTE: Depending on the schedule and time, we will visit the sarrapia community to purchase handicrafts.
